One thing that I like to experiment with is dragging the shutter so the image has a more painterly look that are more abstract wall art in appearance rather than a freezing record of the scene in front of me with everything pin sharp.

This intimate and almost abstract image is of the breaking waves at sunset where the tide is rolling back and forth creating movement both in the surf and the water. I love the pebbles that anchor the image and are perfectly sized to mimic the space the sea takes up in the upper right hand side. A mixture of hard and soft.
